With Aeroponics, Grow Plants Anywhere And Everywhere
In the blossoming field of at home gardening, using aeroponics to grow is becoming more and more popular. And the reason is far from shocking. This method of growing is not only lucrative but is also cost-effective and environmentally conscious. Using no growth medium (i.e. soil) aeroponics creates less of a mess. This makes it perfect for in-home growing. Most use a garage or greenhouse-like structures, depending on what you decide to grow. Some plants can grow quite tall.
The limits are endless when you decide to use aeroponics to grow whether you want to start indoor pepper growing or prefering herbs and fruits. All you need is an aeroponics system which can be purchased online with the click of your mouse, or in many chain hardware stores. The system is pretty simple; a plant holder suspends the plant you wish to grow in a slit/opening. Underneath you have a reservoir of water. This water is sprayed with a mist or sprinkler system either in or over the water reservoir. This allows the system to get water directly to the root of the plant and allow oxygen to be more readily available to the root itself. Some say this is one of the factors in the successful growth of plants that use aeroponics to grow. There are endless varieties of plants you can grow this way: potatoes, tomato, lettuce, cilantro, even pumpkins!
Perhaps one of the biggest advantages of aeroponics; grow in some of the harshest of terrains. Gardening is a worthwhile experience for many. Some do it to relax, some to save on groceries. Some even to make profit. However there are those who don’t have the opportunity simply because of where they live. Think of the harsh climate in Southern Arizona. Here most yards are dry dirt and scattered trees or bushes—grass nowhere to be found. Using aeroponics growing can be the solution. You don’t need a fancy garden, fresh soil, or a sprinkler system. You have everything you need in one setup; all you need to do is find which plants you wish to cultivate.
If the benefits of using aeroponics to grow your crops haven’t sold you yet, here’s another idea: solar power. While aeroponic systems already use a low amount of energy, if you invest in solar panels you can end up paying next to nothing for delicious fruits, vegetables and herbs. Solar energy in a common household is a fairly new concept. But the fact that it’s more readily available than ever is good news for gardeners. Especially for those in harsh climates where fresh topsoil ideal for growing is few and far between; but sunshine is plentiful.
So, what if you would love to experience the many benefits of using aeroponics to grow but have a limited amount of space? No problem. Aeroponics systems come in all shapes and sizes. Smaller and larger models use the same method which ensures they have the same results. Of course if you’re growing inside you may want to steer clear of pumpkin growing. But you still have many other plants that can grow in a confined space as they grow upwards.
This includes tomatoes and almost every variety of peppers. And don’t forget herbs. Herbs don’t grow very large but pack a tremendous amount of flavor. Imagine making some home-made spaghetti for dinner and using fresh picked oregano from your aeroponics grown plants right in your home. Or, making a home-made pizza and dressing with mozzarella, tomato sauce from your own tomatoes and fresh parsley.
But what if you’re at the opposite end of the spectrum? Say you live in Alaska where the ground is simply too cold to plant. Just as with a desert environment, you have every opportunity to have your own garden using aeroponics to grow your crop inside. Not to mention how much better tasting your meals will be using fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs instead of produce that has to be shipped from hundreds of miles away.
Live in an apartment and think it would be impossible for you? To grow aeroponics plants can be in your future in the image of apartment vegetable garden. Whether you have an extra bedroom for an aeroponics system or a small closet, it’s definitely possible. Systems come in all shapes and sizes you must simply find one appropriate for you. Gardening is a treat and a delicious one at that. Don’t rule out freshness on account of your environment!
